"Fighting the Fires of Hate - America and the Nazi Book Burnings", a touring exhibit from the national Holocaust Memorial Museum, has been installed on the second floor and in the lobby of Odegaard Library. It will be in place until February 28.
The exhibit shows the book burnings by German university students on May 10, 1933, both on video and on the panels, and progresses through information on those authors whose works were destroyed, the American response to the book burnings, and a reflection on book bannings and burnings today.
There will be an opening reception, with guest speaker Deborah Jacobs, on Sunday, January 7, 2-4 pm. Both the exhibit and reception are being sponsored by the Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center.
