Pacific Northwest Historical Newspaper Archive is a small collection of digitized newspapers from Washington state and surrounding areas. The expanding collection currently includes the Bellingham Herald (1903-1922), Morning Olympian (1891-1922), Olympia Record (1902-1922), Tacoma Daily News (1890-1898), Idaho Statesman (Boise, 1864-1922), Oregonian (Portland, 1861-1922) and even the Hokubei Jiji, a Japanese American newspaper (1916-1918). In the future the Seattle Times will be available for the years 1896 to 1984.
The trial lasts through 30 June 2009. Given the budget situation it is not likely that we will be able to subscribe to this database in the near future so use it while you can. Please email me at mudrock@u.washington.edu with any comments.
