We are trying out a new database, The African-American Experience. The database includes encyclopedias, books and primary sources. For example, a search on "runaways" finds chapters in books such as Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and Rastus: Blacks in Advertising, Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, entries from the Dictionary of Afro-American Slavery and primary sources from Runaway Slave Advertisements: A Documentary History from the 1730s to 1790.
